About Me

Kelly ~ Books|Events|Theatre|Blogger

Hello Lovelies

I have a huge love of books. I have done since I was a little girl and my nana used to buy me my Judy Bloom books. I have run a Facebook Book Discussion Group for a couple of years and loved it. However, as life got busy my time and efforts dwindled. Last year my mother suffered three strokes. She has made a super recovery and is able to do everything herself. But I wasn’t comfortable with no one being in the home when she’s on her own. So I moved home to care for her (I use the term care for carefully because if she reads this she will slap me across the head).

So in January, I decided to jump with both feet. Do what I always wanted to do which was reviewing both book and events.

I put more effort into the book club, I contacted Authors and Publishing houses and I got a lot of positive response. I created a Twitter page and worked hours contacting people and getting my name out into the world. I recently joined Instagram and I adore it.

So I am giving myself one year to develop my passion. I hope you enjoy my reviews and I would welcome any constructive criticism.

My blog and social media now have over 10,000 followers.  I am happy to have Blog Tours, Review Books and Q&A’s all on my upcoming agenda.  I was recently named as one of two of this year’s Bloggers for this year’s Coast word Festival in Dunbar.

I also review Theatre productions, most recently for The Brunton Theatre, Musselburgh and in Edinburgh ~ The Playhouse, The Kings Theatre and The Festival Theatre.  I thoroughly enjoy the feeling the live action productions leave me with.

I love reviewing local festivals too. The Vegan Festival earlier this year was fantastic. The Magic Festival is coming up in June and I will be bringing you lot’s of great photos and reviews from those events.

I encourage readers and authors to follow the blogs they enjoy.  I think it’s very important.  Plus it really helps if you share, like and comment.  The more people who read and enjoy my posts makes the effort and time I put into each post worth it.

I am a big supporter of other bloggers, I don’t see any as competition we are all a unique team and we only rise and grow by lifting others.

Please give me a wee follow on:

I am grateful for every visit, like and share of my blog. It truly makes my day special when I hear the beep on my phone and I see the alert.

Thank you for your continued support

Oh, and on the last note, you may have noticed I like the colour pink. It means summer and peace to me.

Guest Bloggers

At times I have some extra help with the great minds of Sam Baines and J A Warnock. Both of whom add additional thoughts and points of view to my blog.

 J A Warnock

J A Warnock

A perpetual student, accountant and fitness instructor Julie Anne Warnock joined the team at Love Books Group because she wasn’t quite busy enough already. She has studied historical literature, English, drama, accountancy, economics, planetary science, psychology, and criminology; she admits to reading just about anything put in front of her. She lives in the Scottish Borders with Eliza, Martha and Beryl (the sheep) her nearest neighbours.

Sam Bain

Sam Bain has lived and worked all over the world in jobs as diverse and varied as engineering, tv, theatre, forklift truck driving and opal mining. Always an avid reader he obtained an arts and humanities degree from the Open University following one of his many mid-life crises. The others he does not mention in polite company. He joined Love Books Group as a guest reviewer earlier this year.

  2. We would like to say how very supportive Kelly has been for us. We are new authors as RJ Bailey – although Robert Ryan (one half) is an established writer of mainly historical fiction – this is a new project for us to write a thriller together. Kelly has been there with us from virtually the beginning and has really helped to expose us to a different and wider audience.
Her twitter feeds, facebook and blogs are many and varied and full of enthusiasm! Its great for us as writers and for us as readers…Thank you

Maybe we can arrange some poetry readings? Have plenty of material and have performed in some great venues- cathedrals, Arts Centres, Edinburgh Fringe and The Caledonia Club in London . Let me know if you are interested ….

      1. Wait till you see what I am attempting next! Am trying to make a monk’s vision from the late 12th century slightly more accessible!
