Dawnstar (1)

Book Synopsis

Aurora Firedrake returns in the spellbinding sequel to The Last of the Firedrakes.

The seven kingdoms of Avalonia are crumbling and evil is spreading across the land like a plague. Queen Morgana is close to finding a way to open The Book of Abraxas and it’s only a matter of time until she uses the power trapped inside its pages to enslave the entire world.

With Avalonia growing more dangerous by the day, Aurora must travel through war-torn lands and deep into the heart of the fae kingdom of Elfi. Her goal is to find a legendary weapon infused with the last of the realm’s ancient magic—the only weapon in the world powerful enough to stop the queen.

Aurora might have survived her first battle against Morgana, but the true fight to save her kingdom and restore her throne has only just begun…

The Rise of the Dawnstar ~ Review

The Rise of the DawnStar by Farah Oomerbhoy is the much awaited second book in  The Avalonia Chronicles. I hadn’t read the first instalment, The Last of the Firedrakes (I certainly will now!), yet I was able to be thoroughly entranced by this young adult tale of fae folk and magic!

Ms. Oomerbhoy is masterful at creating a new fantasy world full of good and evil and characters of whom you aren’t sure which category they fit. Yet even from the very first page, the book seems familiar, as if this faerie tale is a natural extension of the characters and stories I grew up on. This page-turner is filled with surprises and action at every turn, and I truly cared about the fate of Princess Aurora! Be warned though, there is definitely going to be a book three, and I would be willing to bet more than that, so don’t get your hopes up for a “happily ever after” at the end of this one.

Whether you are a young adult or an adult who has been around for awhile, If you are a lover of well written, captivating series books and fantasy then this is a book I would highly recommend
